The Jebel Jais Mountain Peak, located in the northernmost Emirate of the UAE, dramatically rises from the Arabian Gulf to an impressive height of 1,934 meters above sea level. Jebel Jais hosts some of the country’s most extreme mountain sports, including the Jais Via Ferrata, where accessible adventure meets thrilling challenges.
Via Ferrata, meaning ‘iron path’ in Italian offers an exhilarating climb suitable for all levels of mountaineers. This 470-meter (over 30-story) route allows you to scale a stunning part of the protected Hajar Mountain range. The course includes three mountain hikes connected by a series of zip wires measuring 50, 60, and 300 meters.

The Via Ferrata is a blend of rock climbing and mountaineering, offering thrill-seekers and outdoor enthusiasts an exciting climb up vertical cliff faces with the feel of professional climbing, but without the need for extensive training or high risk.
Before starting your adventure, you’ll receive a comprehensive safety briefing and an overview of the various routes available: the Ledge Walk, Middle Path, or for the fearless, the Julphar Scare. Mountaineering guides will equip you with a Via Ferrata harness and all necessary tools before you head into the wilderness. Throughout the climb, you will be securely attached to an intricate system of steel cables and ladder rungs embedded in the rock faces every five meters or so. Three zip lines help you traverse otherwise inaccessible sections of the mountain, with the longest zip line soaring directly over the main Jebel Jais road.
The Ledge Walk is perfect for those seeking a less demanding mountain adventure. This hike takes around four hours and begins with a gentle climb over the rolling rocks characteristic of Jebel Jais. A more challenging vertical section leads to the first, shortest zip line via secure iron steps. Afterwards, a gradual climb brings you to the 60-meter zip line, which starts your descent slowly before reaching the thrilling 300-meter zip line that speeds you into the wadi below.
